November - March

In winter, Flachau's biking mountains become perfect ski and snowboarding mountains.

You can bike in the valleys e.g. on the Ennsradweg and up to 1,300m on the south-facing mountain slopes. There can be snowfall at higher points but this is an exception.

May

May has been sunny in recent years. The strong green of the fresh meadows and the white mountaintops appear almost kitsch in contrast with the dark blue sky and make a brilliant photo. Higher mountain passes are still covered with snow, which means you may have to carry your bike at some points.

June

June is known as the month of growth. So during this month you should expect showers and storms, usually towards the evening. During the day it's sunny and dry enough for your sports activities.

July

July is the Adriatic month in the Alps. It promises bathing weather, with hot temperatures that often reach 35°C. We recommend that you make an early start for hiking, biking and other strenuous activities so that you reach your final destination by noon.

August

When it comes to sport, "everything is possible in August". You can enjoy the same July weather until the middle of August. After that, the days get shorter and temperatures also start to fall. With luck, the first frost will arrive at the end of August and you’ll have to de-ice your windscreen. This frost is really important for the winter season because, according to the farmer's almanac, winter begins 100 days after the first frost.

September

The first signs of autumn start to appear in September. The forests change colour, the temperature is between 15 and 20°C - the perfect month to be active. Lots of events based around the Salzburg Harvest Festival take place in the region. You can sense the summer gradually departing.

October

A really warm autumn is often called an Indian summer. The expression comes from spiders' webs that shimmer in the October sunlight like a grey hair. The larches are golden and the beech trees are a copper-red. We recommend that you take bike trips around midday, and if you're setting off early in the morning or in the evening, you should wear arm warmers and leg warmers. Top temperatures during the day reach 20°C; however, it can also get really cool and snow is not out of the question, but it doesn't settle on the ground.
